Starts With “E” and Ends With “-mily”
Well hello there! My name is Emily Sanders. I am a sophomore here at NCU, but some of you may not know me because I have been gone for the last 4 months. We’ll get to that in just a minute. First, I will tell you a bit about myself.
I was born in the hospital that happens to be across the street from the university. I was born into a family of six and anyone who knows me well could easily tell that I am a middle child. My family is a bit crazy, but I have a feeling that I play a BIG part. I know some of you may not believe it, but I am the loudest person in my family. But hey, life is more fun when you’re crazy, right? Or am I just consoling myself?
I grew up in Elmira, a small town about a half an hour west of NCU. I’ve never moved, except that one time when I lived thousands of miles across the world for four months…
I love to play music! The guitar, the ukulele, my voice, the radio… All good choices. My next musical adventure is the harmonica. I just love the way it sounds! Call me a nerd, but I also love to read. If you’re looking for a new author to try, stop whatever you’re doing at this very moment and go buy a Ted Dekker book (after you finish reading this). Any one, it doesn’t matter. My favorite TV show is definitely Chuck and my favorite animal is a pig.
So… back to that exciting part of my life. You might have guessed why I was gone all of last semester! I was studying abroad. I have had a huge passion and love for Africa my whole life, and when I found out NCU had a partnership with a study abroad program in Uganda there was no stopping me. For 4 months I lived in a totally different culture, learned a lot, and grew exponentially in many ways. I have a lot of cool stories that I love sharing. You can shoot an email to email@example.com, ask me in person, or maybe I’ll write a post about it.
I’m looking forward to being a part of the Beacon Bolt staff this semester. I was in Journalism in high school and had lots of fun. If you have any questions, Bolt related or not, just ask me. I like friends. See you around!
