Cute and Crafty Valentine’s Day DIY’s

There is only one day a year when people can’t make fun of you for being a hopeless romantic, Valentine’s Day. Whether you are in a relationship, in that awkward “what are we?” phase, or you’re single and looking to impress your crush, I have a few DIY gift ideas for you. Each gift varies on difficulty, time and money, but they are so cute and original your boyfriend, girlfriend or crush will love the time and effort.

1. You Walked Into My Life

This gift is perfect for anyone who loves shoes, whether it be a woman or man. Find out his or her favorite brand and style of shoe and what size they wear for that type of shoe. This is important, I repeat, do not mess up the size, because having to exchange or return a Valentine’s Day gift is not cute.

  1. Buy Shoes that are the right size and style. ($40+)
  2. Buy Sharpies or markers and Valentine’s Day themed stickers from The Dollar Tree. ($2-5)
  3. Decorate the box in a cute festive way, such as the example below.

  • Best for: Couples
  • Cost: $45+

  3. Buy frosting ($3)
  4. Bake the cake, let cool, frost and then sprinkle.

A very sentimental way of showing your love is writing “open when letters.” This blog has a list of different letters and ideas that any guy or girl would love. You can also personalize the letters by adding pictures and candy.

  1. Buy a pack of envelopes, paper and markers ($3)
  2. Choose as many “open when” ideas as you wish
  3. Write the letters and stuff the envelopes and then write the titles on the front
  4. Compile the letters into a cute box or gift bag ($2)

  • Best for: Couples
  • Cost: $5
  • Time: At least a few days
  • Difficulty: Medium-Hard

5. Post-it Notes for Love

As college students many of us use Post-it notes religiously. They are great for setting reminders and for adding a special piece of information to your notes, but they are also great for creating romantic gestures.

  1. Buy a pack or two of pink Post-it notes ($3)
  2. Grab a pen or marker and start writing out all of the reasons why you like your significant other on the notes
  3. Arrange the notes in a heart shape somewhere where they will see it later that day.
