The Parker Brothers Album Review
I recently had the chance to listen to the new album Close to Home from The Parker Brothers, a local Christian band from here in Eugene. The album mixes folk, indie and pop into a unique mix, crafting a sound that is different and recognizable.
The band consists of three brothers; Tommy, Joey, and Danny Parker. Tommy is a 2009 NCU alum, who majored in Music Industry with a minor in Ministry and Business. Tommy went on to achieve a Master’s Degree in Studio Engineering and a MBA. Joey attended Lane Community College. With a large vocal range, he puts a lot of passion into his songs. Danny is the youngest of the trio, and is still a senior in high school.
Most recently the brothers opened for American Idol finalists, Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey. The Close to Home was released on April 11. There are 11 tracts on the album, with arrange of two to four minutes per song. Tommy plays guitar and Danny provides percussion, with all the brothers contributing to the vocals.
The album features a large array of music from gospel to indie and pop with folk to soft-medleys. The brothers have a nice blend of their varying vocals ranges, and consistent instrumental performances. Their album can found on iTunes or Amazon, and you can check out their Facebook page if you want to know more about the group or where they are playing next.
