A Christmas Engagement for NCU Senior
By Taylor Richardson
Over Christmas break our very own Brittani Smail got engaged to her hometown boyfriend Luke Cooley. An unexpected Christmas surprise left Brittani speechless at Multnomah Falls on Christmas Eve. Luke led Brittani on a treasure hunt filled with clues that took her to places they’ve made memories at during their relationship together. The last clue took her to Multnomah Falls where she thought he might have a romantic picnic planned. Instead, Luke handed her his step dads Bible. As she was busy looking through this clever distraction, Luke dug for a little silver box in his backpack. When Brittani looked down she saw the first glimpse of Luke down on one knee and her sparkling engagement ring (which Luke sized perfectly for her size three finger). “Getting engaged really is just how every girl imagines. Your hands immediately cover your mouth, you tear up, and you’re filled with excitement for the future,” explained a grinning Brittani. The couple is planning a small wedding for summer 2014. They will have plenty of time to figure out all the details, in the mean time Brittani is finishing up her business degree here. Luke will be in Portland finishing up his last year of Viking football and getting his criminal justice degree. The newly engaged couple is enjoying showing off the investment that lies on Brittani’s finger and planning their life together.
